The India International Convention Centre (IICC), also known as Yashobhoomi, is a sprawling 1 million square meter facility with grand ambitions. This state-of-the-art venue, based in Dwarka, India, aims to position the country as a global hub for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) events. It boasts impressive features, including one of the world’s largest Exhibition Halls, a Convention Centre capable of accommodating over 11,000 delegates, a Grand Ballroom, multiple meeting rooms, and more significantly, India’s largest LED media façade.
What did the client want to achieve?
The client’s primary objective was to establish a world-class convention space in India, filling a crucial gap in the country’s event infrastructure. Their vision was to create a cutting-edge convention center that could compete on an international scale, attracting global events, conferences, and exhibitions. This ambitious goal aimed to position India as a prominent player in the global convention industry.
Through collaborative efforts and innovative solutions, Pyramid Technologies successfully transformed this vision into reality. The installation of the impressive 8,800 square meter LED media façade, coupled with state-of-the-art audiovisual integrations inside the premises, elevated the convention center to unprecedented heights. This achievement not only fulfilled the client’s aspirations but also established the venue as the largest and most modern convention center in India.
Scope of work your company was involved in
We played a pivotal role in this project by undertaking comprehensive system integration for both the outdoor LED façade and the audiovisual systems inside the premises. This multifaceted role involved engineering, supplying, installing, testing, and commissioning the massive 8,800 square meter LED media façade. The expertise and precision brought to bear on this task ensured that the media façade became a standout feature of the IICC.
In addition to their work on the LED media façade, Pyramid Technologies provided an extensive Audio-Visual Systems package. This encompassed a wide range of cutting-edge technologies, including sound reinforcement, PA systems, display systems, control systems, conferencing systems, LED video walls, digital signage, and even augmented reality solutions. Their role extended beyond the physical installation, as they were instrumental in fine-tuning and optimizing these systems to deliver top-notch performance.
This comprehensive scope of work not only showcased Pyramid Technologies’ technical proficiency, but also underlined their commitment to ensuring that the IICC stood out as a world-class facility for hosting international events.
What key challenges were faced?
The installation of the LED media façade posed a particularly complex challenge due to the unique structural configuration, which featured a distinctive 44.5-degree angle. This architectural innovation, while visually striking, presented complex hurdles during the installation process. To overcome this challenge, the team from Pyramid Technologies employed advanced structural engineering and precise measurement techniques.
How were those challenges resolved?
Extensive structural analysis and deflection studies played a pivotal role in overcoming the challenges we faced during this project. The team from Pyramid Technologies meticulously evaluated and ensured the precise fit of the outdoor LED tiles that constituted the media façade. To guarantee consistent brightness throughout the day, Pyramid Technologies conducted thorough sun path analysis, allowing us to optimize the system’s performance under varying lighting conditions.
The installation phase demanded meticulous attention, spanning approximately 60 days of continuous operation. Each module underwent rigorous testing before placement to maintain the highest standards of quality and functionality. Achieving precision was paramount as the team aligned the modules correctly, paying close attention to vertical linearity to eliminate any unsightly gaps.
To further enhance the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the media façade, the team engineered multiple strips, varying in size, along the corners. This strategic approach helped maintain edge tolerance, ensuring a seamless 360-degree viewing experience. The end result stands as a remarkable testament to India’s commitment to offering top-tier infrastructure for hosting international events.

The inauguration of this monumental achievement by none other than India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on September 17, is a testament to its national significance.
